It’s that time of year again. As the weather gets hotter and terms start to come to an end, university students all over the country are packing up the rooms, houses and flats that have been their refuge for the past year and head home. And that made us think – university students are one of those groups that don’t get thought of as ‘needing’ self-storage space, when in reality they’re the ones who need it most. Whether it’s over the summer holidays when they come home or when they’re at Uni and they need some extra working space. So today, we want to share with you 9 reasons why the Uni student in your life could do with some self-storage space.
Students rarely live alone – whether you’re in halls with 8 people you barely know or sharing a flat with 2 friends, student life is noisy. Which for the most part is great – it’s part of the Uni experience. But sometimes, when you need to knuckle down and study, read your course texts, do some research or just finish that dissertation before the deadline, you need some peace and quiet. Self storage spaces might sound like an odd solution, but they are actually the perfect place to cut yourself off from the world and enjoy no distractions for a while. You can either use your unit as a makeshift office space (just bring a cushion or two), or you can rent one of the office spaces to work in for an hour, an afternoon or even a day. When you go to university, you start to find out who you really are. That means trying out lots of new things, joining societies and getting into new hobbies that you’d never thought of before. Moving sucks. There’s no two ways around it. But it sucks even more if you’ve never done it before. And for students, the moving happened every year for at least 3 years, depending on the length of the course. Unsurprisingly, most people wouldn’t want to move all of their worldly belongings back a forth so many times (after all, Uni students essentially move twice a year, from accommodation to home, and home to new accommodation). Self-storage space limits the amount of back and forthing, and means you don’t need to try and cart all of that stuff between cities – it can just stay in the Uni town/city in a safe unit until you’re ready to move again.
There’s no denying that having roommates can be challenging sometimes. You might get lucky and live with the best people on the planet, or you might find yourself not really trusting the people you’ve been assigned to live with.
